Position Summary:
The CMA Pending maintains department patient care supplies, ensures timely flow of patients, and assists physicians and nurses to provide optimal care to patients and families.
Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- H.S. Diploma/GED
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) From one of the following certification bodies: National Health Career Association (NHA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or American Allied Health (AAH). within 6 months or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) From one of the following registration bodies: American Medical Technologists (AMT) or The American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA).
- The ARMA registry requires: Successful completion of a Registered/Certified Medical Assistant (RMA/CMA) education program within 6 months of hire.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Successful completion of medical terminology course
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Capacity to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
- Demonstrates compassion and caring in dealing with others.
Essential Functions:
- Perform a variety of routine direct patient care duties to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.
- Maintains patient care environment and supplies to ensure patient privacy and safety.
- Room patients for provider visits.
- Perform visual field testing.
- Obtain vital signs for provider visits.
- Assist with lumbar punctures.
- Obtain prior authorizations through insurance companies.
- Stocking supplies and cleaning rooms.
