Job Description

Position Summary:
The CMA Pending maintains department patient care supplies, ensures timely flow of patients, and assists physicians and nurses to provide optimal care to patients and families.

Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • H.S. Diploma/GED

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) From one of the following certification bodies: National Health Career Association (NHA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or American Allied Health (AAH). within 6 months or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) From one of the following registration bodies: American Medical Technologists (AMT) or The American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA).
  • The ARMA registry requires: Successful completion of a Registered/Certified Medical Assistant (RMA/CMA) education program within 6 months of hire.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Successful completion of medical terminology course


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Capacity to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
  • Demonstrates compassion and caring in dealing with others.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform a variety of routine direct patient care duties to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.
  • Maintains patient care environment and supplies to ensure patient privacy and safety.
  • Room patients for provider visits.
  • Perform visual field testing.
  • Obtain vital signs for provider visits.
  • Assist with lumbar punctures.
  • Obtain prior authorizations through insurance companies.
  • Stocking supplies and cleaning rooms.
