Description

The incumbent will provide psychological assessments and treatment under the direction and guidance of faculty in the Psychology Division of the Department of Psychiatry. The primary purpose of postdoctoral training is to develop new or advanced skills, gain experience in clinical care, teaching and scholarship. This position will report to the Division Chief of Psychology and may supervise undergraduate/graduate, residents and medical students.

Examples of Duties

SERVICE 85%

  • Provide psychological assessments to patients across SIU Medicine.
  • Provide individual psychotherapy to patients across SIU Medicine.
  • Provide group psychotherapy to targeted SIU Medicine populations.

TEACHING 10%
  • Supervise, assist, and teach residents, medical students, and fellows as assigned.
  • Participate in the development of educational curriculum as assigned.
  • Provide psychotherapy supervision to psychiatry residents.
RESEARCH 5%
  • Partner with existing faculty research projects and/or design and develop project(s).
  • Perform data analysis, write manuscripts.
  • Present data at national or international scientific meetings.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Psychology or a related field.
  • Expertise in evidence-based therapy.
  • Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
