Role Summary

Rivian is looking for a Senior Industrial Engineer to improve the production output in Normal, IL. As a Senior Industrial Engineer, you will have the opportunity to plan utilization of facilities, equipment, materials and personnel to improve efficiency of operations in the fastest growing industry in the country and make a true impact on growing the Electric Vehicle Industry. The opening is located at our Normal, IL facility and reports directly to the Senior Manager Industrial Engineering.


Responsibilities

  • Reviews, interprets and summarizes statistical data.
  • Develop work instructions, standardized work, process flow, and process documentation to ensure manufacturing process is being followed.
  • Participate in product and packaging reviews to evaluate process impact and provide feedback on build sequence, process time analysis, and investment requirements.
  • Works closely with the operations team and production control team to optimize material flow and line layout.
  • Perform line balancing activity to improve team efficiency.
  • Perform time analysis using a standard motion time system (MODAPTS), estimate production times, staffing requirements, and costs.
  • Responsible for conversion cost improvement activities and overall plant efficiency gains.
  • Co-ordinate with team to determine and introduce optimum plant layout, equipment, tooling, and racking in General Assembly to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Participates in department meetings.
  • Completes documentation of activities as required.
  • Develops and / or reviews production procedures.

Qualifications

  • Must have good communication skills - both verbal and written.
  • Experience (2-3) Years using CATIA, Solid Works, Creo or other 3D modeling Software.
  • Experience and/or certification in Six Sigma DMAIC (optional), Lean Assembly Principles, Time Studies using MTM or MODAPTS. (Preferred)
  • Working knowledge in Excel, Word, Power point, and Outlook programs.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong team orientation and cross functional attitude.
  • Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma etc experience is a plus.
  • 3+ years engineering experience in a high-volume manufacturing operation, preferably automotive.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline or a combination of combined experience.
