Job Description

Heritage Behavioral Health Center is seeking a medical director to provide oversight, guidance, and act the primary physician for medication assisted recovery for an Opioid Treatment Program and our substance use residential recovery programs located in Decatur, Illinois, in Central Illinois.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

* Providing medical oversight and leadership to the Opioid Treatment Program (OTP), detoxification/withdrawal management, and residential rehabilitation.

* Conducting medical evaluations and assessments for individuals seeking medication assisted treatment, detoxification/withdrawal management, and residential rehabilitation

* Diagnosis and treatment including assessment and diagnosis of patients with mental health disorders, participate in treatment plan development, and prescribe appropriate medications. Regular monitoring and adjustment of treatment may be necessary.

* Prescribing and managing medication assisted treatment including, yet not limited to, methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone, for opioid use disorder

* Monitoring patient progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary.

* Assist with the review of existing and future policies and procedures that direct healthcare services including, yet not limited to, protocols, quality standards, CARF accreditation standards, and best practice treatment guidelines

* Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations

* Provide clinical leadership and consultation to a multidisciplinary teams including working closely with other mental health professionals, such as nursing, social workers, counselors, case managers, midlevel practitioners, and agency leadership. Multidisciplinary teams are utilized for care coordination for patients, development and implementation of agency quality improvement efforts. The Medical Director is the physician representative on multidisciplinary teams.

* Provide training to agency staff by providing guidance and ongoing training in providing quality care.

* Participate with residents or other students for an introduction to substance use, addiction medicine, and medication assisted treatment

Ideal candidates will have:

* Experience in addiction medicine or working with patients with opioid use disorder

* Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to OTPs

* Strong leadership and communication skills

* Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team

* Board certification in addiction medicine is preferred yet not required.

Requirements:

* Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution

* Active, undisciplined, and unrestricted license in the State of Illinois

* Current DEA license
